Meet Richard Parkinson

Richard Parkinson
Richard came late to the life insurance industry after spending 37 years in the telecommunications industry as a consultant, and for the last 20 years of that career, travelling the world, presenting technical seminars.
Richard began his financial advisor career in 2003, and has been a successful and appreciated advisor. It is obvious that his 20 years in the seminar business has influenced his approach to clients, favouring the education approach rather than the hard sell. Richard believes the knowledgeable client is a loyal client.
In 2007, Richard completed the training and was granted the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation. During 2008-2009, Richard successfully completed the four education modules for the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation in preparation for the final exam, which he has not yet completed.
One of Richard’s strengths is his analytical abilities; in particular the ability to create customized Excel spreadsheets to help his clients understand some of the nuances of a particular option, or comparing of options to solve a problem. The other attribute is his attention to detail, with clients appreciative of his ability to explain complex concepts and ideas in lay terms.
Clients often comment that after a conversation with Richard, they feel confident that he is truly looking after their best interest rather than his own. Another comment is that they finally understand what is they bought before, and / or the solution he is recommending they consider.
Richard is also a regular contributor to our tax calculator website blog, offering sound advice to the questions posted. Reading this blog is an education in itself.
