Canada Protection Plan Increases Coverage Levels

  • CPP Deferred Life – for Serious health conditions. Coverage up to $75,000. The full coverage amount is payable after you have been enrolled for two years. If the cause of death is accidental, the full coverage amount is payable at the time of death, even if you have been enrolled for less than two years.
  • CPP Deferred Elite – for Less serious health conditions. Coverage up to $350,000. If death occurs during the second year and is due to non-accidental means, 50% of the coverage amount is payable. The full coverage amount is payable after 2 years. If the cause of death is accidental, the full coverage amount is payable at any time.
  • CPP Preferred – Good health for those who want a fast and simple application process. Coverage is available up to $1 million. No Medical required for up to $500,000 and issue age up to 70. Coverage starts immediately
  • CPP Preferred Elite – Good health for those who want a fast and simple application process at the lowest rates. Coverage is available up to $1 million and starts immediately.

Under the new regulations, cigar smokers and many marijuana users are now classified as non-smokers.
