The Edge Moves Its Disability Plan from RBC Insurance to The Co-operators
As reported in the May 2013 issue of the Insurance and Investment Journal, RBC Insurance and The Edge decided not to renew the contract that made RBC the insurer behind the disability product distributed through Managing General Agents [MGAs].
Instead, The Edge found a new partner in The Co-operators, and RBC has also launched its own simplified issue disability plan.
RBC's plan is called The Fundamental Series and it offers features similar to those found in The Edge policy. The plan is aimed at self-employed people in the blue- and grey-collar market. It offers instant issue injury coverage, as well as an optional illness coverage that's available on a simplified issue basis.
Additional features will include Best Doctor's services, hospital coverage for stays of more than 24 hours, and a $10,000 accidental medical reimbursement benefit.
