Since June 2006, Canadian Protection Plan [CPP] has offered various term life insurance plans underwritten by Unity Life. The flagship plans in CPP's lineup are Deferred Term, Simplified Term and Simplified Term Plus.They are all available without a medical and can be purchased online or through a broker.

Deferred Term

  • There's only a handful of health questions, but be aware of the stringent height and weight table.
  • The death benefit is limited to a return of the premium (plus interest) in the first two years of the policy, unless the death is accidental.
  • The maximum face amount is $100,000.

Simplified Term

  • It comes with a wide range of health questions, but there's still no medical assessment.
  • The death benefit starts from day one.
  • Face amounts up to $150,000

Simplified Term Plus

  • Plus has the lowest premiums in CPP's simplified insurance lineup, but has the widest range of medical questions as well.
  • The death benefit starts from day one.
  • Face amounts up to $150,000

  3. Hi: I am a 55 year old male. I work as a Funeral Home Assistant, as well as being self-employed as a cater. I have a monthly income of 2500.00 - 3000.00. I am interested if C.P.P.has a plan to cover loss income due to an accident or illness.
